Updated Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Requirement

Under SB1343, California businesses with 5 or more employees are required to provide employees with sexual harassment prevention training every 2 years as of January 1, 2019. Employees are required to have 1 hour of training, while supervisors and managers are required to have 2 hours of training. All employees must be trained in 2019 - employees trained in 2018 or before must be retrained. Employees must receive training before 2020.

The California Employers Association (CEA) provides Harassment Prevention trainings to California businesses, including on-site trainings (in English and Spanish), monthly webinars (English only), and online training (in English and Spanish). These can be viewed and accessed online on the CEA website.

The California Chamber of Commerce provides an online harassment prevention training option for both employees and supervisors. These can be viewed and access online on the CalChamber Store website.

The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing serves as a resource for sexual harassment prevent FAQs, as well as offering sexual harassment brochures and posters. They can be accessed on the DFEH website.
