Medi-Cal Managed Care Providers Are Required to Enroll July 16, 2018 General Cal, Medi All contracted physicians in a Medi-Cal managed care network must enroll in the Medi-Cal program by December 31, 2018. There are two enrollment options: through the managed care health plan's own enrollment process or through the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) fee-for-service (FFS) enrollment portal. (Enrolling through DHCS does not obligate the provider to also see FFS patients.) The federal rule that took effect this year requires states to screen and enroll, and periodically revalidate, all network physicians of managed care organizations.
