Gavin Newsom Calls for "Master Plan on Aging" in California February 25, 2019 General California, Senior Services, Social Programs During his recent State of the State address, California Governor Gavin Newsom called for a state plan to address the huge increase in senior population matched with California's shortage of senior services. California's senior population is set to increase by 4 million in the next decade, and will likely double in the next 25 years. Gov. Newsom believes that California must develop a plan to address its lacking senior services, nursing shortage, the transportation needs of seniors, and the social isolation that often comes with aging.
