End of Life Option Act Reinstated Temporarily June 19, 2018 General Issues, Legal, Medical A state appeals court reinstated the End of Life Option Act on June 15, pending any future rulings to the contrary. The 4th District Court of Appeal granted California Attorney General Xavier Becerra's motion to stay a lower court's May 25 ruling to overturn the Act. The law's opponents argued that the California State Legislature violated the state constitution by passing the law during a special session limited to health care in fall 2015. The trial to hear the lawsuit is set for September 28. The End of Life Option Act remains in full force and effect due to the appellate court's stay order.
