Alameda County Public Health Department - Measles March 5, 2019 General Measles, Update This is a message from the Alameda County Public Health Department, Many countries around the world, including countries in Europe, Asia and Africa continue to experience measles outbreaks. In the U.S., six jurisdictions including New York State, New York City, Washington, Texas and Illinois have reported measles outbreak in 2019 (see CDC Measles page https://www.cdc.gov/measles/cases-outbreaks.html). On February 22, 2019, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), issued a measles clinical guidance due to ongoing concern regarding the spread of measles in California. The full Measles Clinical Guidance is attached and can also be found at http://www.acphd.org/health-alerts.aspx. Measles is immediately reportable by telephone to the Local Public Health Department. If measles is suspected in a patient in Alameda County, please contact the Acute Communicable Diseases Section of Alameda County Public Health Department at 510-267-3250 M-F 8:30-5pm.
